Cool Products

There are two products today I would like to bring to your attention if you are not aware of them already!  Both are organic food products.  I feel very strongly about the organic, non-GMO (genetically modified organism) food movement.  It has been going on for years now - but until recently it was too costly for most people to partake in.  Fortunately there have been more companies jumping on the organic bandwagon in recent years offering organic products at competitive prices with non-organic, non-GMO food products.

Domino Organic Sugar - 24 oz.  Retails at Wal-Mart (the one where I shop at anyway!) for $2.42.  I generally only use sugar for making Kool-Aid or if a recipe calls for a small amount.  I'm not a big baker - or chef in general for that matter! - so I only need to keep a little sugar on hand.  This is the perfect amount for me at a great price.  I'm very leary of sugar substitutes until they have had YEARS of a proven track record for not causing all kinds of havoc upon the human body.  There are a few promising ones out there - but they just havn't been on the market long enough to know if they are safe or not.  So, for now I will stick with good 'ole sugar and just minimize our use of it.  If anyone knows of a good, SAFE sugar alternative please let me know!

My second "great product" of the day (wow, two in one day - I'm on a roll here) is Earth's Best Organic Baby Food.  Great stuff that is very competitavely priced with other baby foods such as Gerber.  Earth's Best comes in the three different eating stages of your child's infant/toddler years.  Wide variety to choose from as well including: fruits, vegetables, grains and pasta.  I have used this baby food with all four of my children.  The baby food comes in glass jars so you can recycle them, or perhaps find another use for them.  I've heard of people storing hardware or craft items in them, such as small nails, pins, needles or beads.  I saved a bunch of my jars and made homemade candles in them which I gave out as Christmas gifts.  Perfect candle size!

Here is a great site for keeping track of baby food/formula recalls that may be out there:

Enjoy!
